Sanitary fixtures in Morocco: mandatory tap and ceramic standards, accessible toilets
Sanitary fixtures are covered in Morocco by mandatory standards on two fronts. Tapware is regulated: draw-off taps, cistern valves, stop valves, mixers and shower hoses, self-closing and electronic taps each carry a mandatory NM reference. Vitreous china fixtures must meet NM 10.4.064 on hygiene and safety. For buildings open to the public and collective housing, Law 10-03 on accessibility and Decree 2-11-246 require accessible toilets; the joint technical order announced by the decree had not been found published at the date of the catalogue. Installation follows the homologated plumbing standards cited in the CPS.
Scope
The page concerns the visible equipment of bathrooms, toilets and kitchens: WC pans and cisterns, washbasins, bidets, baths, shower trays and enclosures, kitchen sinks, taps and mixers, shower sets and accessories, including fittings adapted for people with reduced mobility.
It starts with the client's choice of fixtures on samples and ends with each fixture fitted, sealed and tested at its water point. Pipes hidden in walls and floors are part of the plumbing package; the tiling around the fixtures belongs to the finishes packages.

Frequently asked questions
Are taps subject to mandatory standards in Morocco?
Yes. Single taps, mixers, shower hoses, self-closing taps, electronic taps and several valves are covered by mandatory NM references.
Must my villa have an accessible toilet?
Law 10-03 targets buildings open to the public, collective housing and public spaces. For a private house, it is a design choice to discuss with your architect.
What should be checked when the fixtures are installed?
Water flow at each tap, drainage speed, absence of leaks, correct cistern filling and secure fixing. These checks are recorded at commissioning.
Can I buy my own fixtures and have them installed?
Yes, if the contract allows it. You then carry the responsibility for their conformity, so keep the documents proving the standards.
