Frequently asked questions

Which texts govern construction in Morocco?

Mainly Law 12-90 on urban planning, Law 25-90 on subdivisions, the general building regulation (decree 2-18-577), the RPS 2000 seismic code (2011 version), the thermal building regulation (RTCM) and Law 66-12 on violations. The library lists 230 Moroccan texts and mandatory NM.

Are Moroccan NM standards mandatory?

Voluntary in principle, unless a regulation makes them mandatory or the contract refers to them.

Can Eurocodes or DTU be used in Morocco?

Yes, as technical references or by contract when no Moroccan standard covers the subject; they never replace a mandatory Moroccan text such as RPS 2000.

Where can I find the official text?

Laws, decrees and orders are published in the Official Bulletin (sgg.gov.ma); Moroccan standards are sold by IMANOR.
